There he is!!!

Aye, yur sum boy! Yup, it's D.L Moody himself! At the Bible Institute there is a wee Moody museum. Has loads of things in it including this life-size statue of the man himself!!! Looks very distinguished, don't you think?

This has got to be one of the most significant things I have ever seen in my Christian life! This letter and scroll of 2,500 signatures are from the men and women of Glasgow and Edinburgh in the middle 1800s. They were requesting that both Moody and his song leader Ira Sankey come over to Scotland to hold some evangelistic crusades. They came to Edinburgh, sang and preached, and many came to faith in Christ. The churches were full already so they had to build a new church to put them in! In 1865 Carrubbers Close Mission (now Carrubbers Christian Centre) was built as a result! This is Jenn's and mine's home church in Scotland, where we both came (back) to faith. It's a very special place to both of us, and in fact was where we both spotted each other at a New Years Eve Banquet and Ceilidh!!! I remember seeing a photo at Carrubbers years ago where Moody himself is 'holding forth' at the laying of the founding stone. I don't think he could quite have seen or realized the number of men and women that have been sent out from that place in full-time service for Christ!
